A 49-year-old trainee solicitor has taken legal action against a leading Knightsbridge plastic surgeon. Anna Sabreze claims that her body was left lumpy, uneven and scarred after undergoing VASER liposuction in January 2020. She is seeking £75,000 in damages, including the cost of reconstructive surgery and compensation for physical and psychological harm.
Promised “Perfect Instagram Body”
Ms Sabreze says she met with Dr Mike Comins to remove stubborn fat and achieve what she was told would be a “perfect Instagram body.” The minimally invasive VASER procedure uses ultrasound waves to break down fat cells before suctioning them away. She paid £5,850 for the treatment and expected a smooth, symmetrical result.
Alleged Poor Outcome and Scarring
Shortly after surgery, Ms Sabreze reported:
Uneven facial contours and dimpling
Noticeable scarring
Asymmetrical body shape
Ongoing psychological distress
She maintains that, had she been properly informed of the risks, she would not have consented to the operation.
Legal Argument: Lack of Informed Consent
In the High Court in London, Ms Sabreze’s lawyers argue that she did not receive adequate risk information. They say she was assured of a flawless outcome but was not warned about possible lumps, loose skin or contour irregularities. Under contract law, she contends that this failure voided her informed consent.
Surgeon’s Defence: Risks Were Communicated
Dr Comins and two cosmetic surgery companies deny any breach. They say Ms Sabreze received a detailed warning email before her procedure. In it, they assert, she was told about:
Lumps, dimples and contour irregularities
Scarring and loose skin
The need to temper expectations
They insist she was aware VASER liposuction carries these possible side effects.
Pre-Trial Hearing and Next Steps
At a preliminary hearing last week, Judge Ritchie heard both sides present their positions. The judge noted Ms Sabreze’s claim that she was “assured” of perfection and the defendants’ assertion that she was “warned” of bulkiness. The hearing was adjourned after half a day, and the case will return to court for a full trial.
Surgeon’s Credentials and Procedure Details
Dr Comins is described on social media as an “award-winning VASER liposuction surgeon” with 21 years of experience. His Knightsbridge clinic’s website states that he introduced VASER technology to the UK in 2008. It also notes he has performed over 5,000 treatments and is recognised globally for his work in body contouring.
