Secaucus, NJ, May 2025 – Pierre Fabre Laboratories, Inc. has partnered with the Breast Cancer Alliance (BCA) to launch a Breast Surgery Fellowship, aimed at training the next generation of expert breast surgeons. This initiative will expand access to advanced surgical treatments and improve outcomes for breast cancer patients.
BCA is the only breast cancer organization funding surgeon fellowships at Society of Surgical Oncology–accredited institutions. Their program focuses on advanced surgical techniques, research, and patient-centered care. “By investing in the education and training of future breast surgeons, Pierre Fabre is making an immediate and lasting impact,” said Karen Colella, BCA President. “Their mission aligns with ours—to ensure more patients receive specialized surgical care.”
Studies show that care from fellowship-trained surgeons improves survival and quality of life. Pierre Fabre is currently funding the Yale School of Medicine Breast Cancer Alliance Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program. “We are extremely grateful,” Colella added.
This year’s scholarship recipient is Dr. Alanna J. Hickey, MD, a breast surgery fellow at Yale. “I am honored to receive this scholarship. It will enhance my skills and allow me to provide the best possible care to breast cancer patients,” said Dr. Hickey. She will also engage in community outreach efforts as part of Yale New Haven Medical Center’s mission.
