Kaitlyn Bristowe is defending her decision to get plastic surgery.
The Bachelor star, 39, shared an Instagram post in December refuting criticism of her appearance and cosmetic surgery.
“Believe it or not, I am better on the inside. You can’t see it with your naked eyes, but I’ve never felt it so clearly,” she wrote. “To all of you who always want to comment ‘you were so much prettier before you had all that surgery,’ I suggest you do some major work on the inside before you judge the outside.”
The Instagram video is set to the song “We Are Not the Same” by Danny Gonzalez and Drew Gooden. As the lyrics play, two photos of Bristowe flash into the video, one that looks like it was taken during her first appearance on The Bachelor in 2015 and the other more recently after surgery.
Fans praised Bristowe’s sincerity in the comments. “A woman is most beautiful when she feels beautiful. Just do whatever you want! I don’t understand why anyone would shame someone for something like this,” one of her fans encouraged.
In 2021, Bristowe responded to critics’ comments about her appearance by revealing that she’s had a brow lift, microblading of her eyebrows, lip fillers, and dental bonding. In a recent post, she confirmed these again when a fan asked her if she had dental veneers. Three years ago, she also joked that contouring, aging, and dark hair were the reasons for her changed appearance over the years since her TV debut.
She also said at the time: “I’m tired of women making comments about my face. OMG.”
Earlier this month, the Bachelor alum revealed that she had blepharoplasty, a reconstructive procedure to improve the appearance of her eyelids. On Dec. 8, she shared a post-operative photo on Instagram.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the procedure “is a surgery to remove excess skin from the eyelids,” adding that “loose skin around the eyes can reduce side vision (peripheral vision) as you age, especially in the upper and outer parts of your field of vision.” The site also notes that the procedure can also “reduce or eliminate” the aforementioned visual impairment.
Bristow hasn’t shied away from the topic of plastic surgery on her podcast, either.
During an appearance on Off the Vine hosted by Janice Dickinson, the two talked about cosmetic surgery.
“When in your career did you think, ‘I’m going to start getting plastic surgery?'” Bristow asked the former America’s Next Top Model judge, who said she started getting plastic surgery when she was 32 and dating Sylvester Stallone in the ’90s.
The plastic surgeries Dickinson has undergone for her beauty include a mini facelift and a revision to a then-30-year-old breast augmentation (which was featured in an episode of Plastic Surgery Failed).
