Adriana Lima has opened up about her changing appearance. In a new interview with Harper’s Bazaar Arabia, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel addressed rumors of her plastic surgery and the criticism she received for her appearance after attending the Los Angeles premiere of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes last November.
“I don’t mind it at all,” Lima told the publication of negative online comments speculating that her plumper face was the result of plastic surgery. “I’m very strong about it and to be honest, I looked at myself before I left the house and I felt great. I was with my kids and they looked at me and said, ‘Mom! You look so beautiful!'”
For the event, Adriana wore a red and black fit-and-flare dress, paired with sheer stockings and matching red pointy-toe heels, and lipstick. Her brunette hair was sleek and straight, with a side-parting tucked behind her ear. Although she ignored the online chatter, the model admitted she was “shocked” after seeing photos of herself on the red carpet.
“I was like, ‘That’s not me,'” she said. “It was all so weird because I didn’t feel like that. I still don’t feel like that… You can see yourself in a different light.”
“I wasn’t offended or anything, though – I was just laughing. The point is, I’m not 16 anymore. I started modeling when I was 16, but I’m never going to be 16 again. I’m 42 and this is the happiest time of my life; the most satisfied I’ve ever been with myself. I embrace my age and I wouldn’t change it for anyone.”
Last month, Adriana addressed the trolls by sharing a make-up-free selfie on her Instagram Story. “This is the face of a tired mum of a teenage girl, two pre-teens, a one-year-old toddler and three dogs,” she wrote, adding: “Thank you all for your concern.”
