Dale Griffith Shares Good News In Cancer Fight

by Alice

Nicole Dyer-Griffith, former Miss Universe Trinidad and Tobago, has revealed promising news in her ongoing battle with cancer. In a heartfelt video shared on Facebook this May, Dyer-Griffith, a former senator and the wife of former Police Commissioner and NTA political leader Gary Griffith, provided an update that has inspired supporters across the Caribbean and beyond.

A Courageous Journey

In September 2024, Dyer-Griffith first made headlines when she bravely announced her stage three inflammatory breast cancer diagnosis from April of that year. Appearing in a video with a shaved head, she openly shared the emotional and physical challenges of her diagnosis and treatment, earning widespread support and admiration.

By March 2025, she had completed radiation therapy and had started hormone suppressants. However, during a routine check-up, she mentioned experiencing headaches. Her medical team ordered a precautionary MRI, which revealed a tumor in her brain — marking a progression to stage four cancer.

A Promising Turn of Events

Despite the setback, Dyer-Griffith remained resilient. In her latest video update, she confirmed that she had completed stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), a precise and non-invasive form of radiation therapy used to treat brain abnormalities such as tumors, epilepsy, and arteriovenous malformations.

“Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) has been completed and it is going well,” she said with a calm and confident tone.

SRS delivers a high-dose, targeted beam of radiation to the tumor, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue and often providing an effective alternative to traditional surgery.

In addition to the brain treatment, Dyer-Griffith underwent a post-treatment PET scan — a diagnostic imaging test that detects active cancer cells through radioactive tracers. The results brought a wave of relief and joy.

“So far everything is clear,” she shared. “From stage three breast cancer to stage four brain cancer to a clear PET scan… God is amazing.”

Looking Forward With Strength and Faith

Acknowledging the emotional weight of her medical journey, Dyer-Griffith admitted that there are still hurdles ahead. Yet her resolve is unwavering.

“It has been a journey,” she said, “but I’m confident in my path and will continue to take it one step at a time, one day at a time.”

She also offered words of comfort and solidarity to others facing similar diagnoses: “I’m thinking of you and praying for you.”

A Beacon of Hope

Dyer-Griffith’s openness about her experience has become a source of inspiration to many facing cancer diagnoses or supporting loved ones through illness. By sharing the emotional highs and lows of her treatment, she continues to build a compassionate community grounded in strength, faith, and resilience.

Neither Nicole Dyer-Griffith nor Gary Griffith was available for comment at the time of reporting.
