WAKEFIELD, Mass. – The 80th edition of the nation’s largest women’s golf tournament begins on May 29, marking another important moment for breast cancer awareness and fundraising. Susan G. Komen®, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, proudly partners once again with Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC), a global leader in specialty insurance, and world No. 1 women’s golfer Nelly Korda to raise funds and provide vital resources for breast cancer patients and families.
Breast Cancer: A Pressing National Challenge
This year, approximately 316,950 women in the United States are expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer for the first time. Tragically, around 42,170 women will die from the disease annually — regardless of age, gender, or background.
Recent studies reveal that roughly one-third of these breast cancer deaths could be prevented if modern treatments were accessible to everyone. This alarming statistic fuels the ongoing mission of Susan G. Komen and its partners to improve access and advance research.
TMHCC’s “Swing for a Cure” Campaign: How It Works
TMHCC is doubling down on its support through the “Swing for a Cure” campaign during this year’s tournament. The company will donate:
-
$5,000 for every birdie Nelly Korda makes
Advertisements -
$10,000 for every eagle
-
A guaranteed minimum donation of $50,000
Additional support incentives include:
-
$25,000 donation if Korda scores a hole-in-one
-
$100,000 donation if Korda wins by three shots
-
$500,000 donation if she wins by four shots
-
$100,000 donation if she wins by five shots or more
Leadership Voices on the Partnership
“We are so excited to lead this meaningful collaboration again this year to support such a meaningful cause,” said Susan Rivera, CEO of Tokio Marine HCC. “At TMHCC, a sense of responsibility and obligation to the community is always a core driver of our work. We are honored to partner with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Nelly Korda to raise awareness of breast cancer, fund research into critical treatment options, and one day eradicate this life-threatening disease.”
Paula Schneider, President and CEO of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, expressed deep gratitude and shared the foundation’s ongoing commitment:
“At the Susan G. Komen Foundation, we believe in the power of women supporting women — lifting each other up through challenges and triumphs. That’s why we are once again proud to stand alongside Nelly, a true champion on and off the course, to help bring attention to the urgent needs of breast cancer families. Last year alone, thanks to the generosity of supporters like TMHCC, the Komen Foundation served nearly 43,000 direct patients and provided $7.5 million in financial assistance to thousands of breast cancer patients. We are so grateful for TMHCC’s continued partnership and will cheer Nelly on every step of the way!”
TMHCC’s Commitment to Social Responsibility
As part of the Tokio Marine Group, TMHCC operates with the motto: “Inspiring Confidence, Accelerating Progress.” This not-for-profit, socially responsible organization is dedicated to building more resilient economies, industries, and communities amid today’s rapidly changing world. TMHCC’s ongoing commitment to social causes like breast cancer awareness has been a fundamental part of its mission since its founding.
This collaboration among TMHCC, Susan G. Komen, and Nelly Korda exemplifies how sports, corporate responsibility, and healthcare advocacy can unite to make a significant difference in the fight against breast cancer. Through “Swing for a Cure,” every swing of Korda’s golf club helps fuel hope, resources, and treatments for those affected by this disease.
