ASMED Medical Center has announced that its proprietary AI-based robotic diagnostic system, KE-BOT, has been granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Developed by Dr. Koray Erdoğan, the system marks a significant advancement in the use of artificial intelligence for aesthetic diagnostics and surgical planning.
KE-BOT: Nine Years of Collaboration and Innovation
KE-BOT is the result of a nine-year collaboration between the University of Kocaeli and the Turkish Institute of Technology. The system uses advanced imaging and robotics to perform 360-degree scalp mapping, capturing high-resolution data on hair shaft thickness, follicle density, and distribution.
Unlike traditional methods that rely on manual measurement and visual assessment, KE-BOT provides consistent and repeatable metrics. This allows for more objective and standardized surgical planning.
“We built KE-BOT to bring standardization, objectivity, and data transparency to a field that has long relied on visual assessments,” said Dr. Koray Erdoğan, founder and medical director of ASMED. “This U.S. patent is a milestone for us and for the use of AI in clinical diagnostics.”
AI Brings Precision and Speed to Hair Diagnostics
KE-BOT’s artificial intelligence engine analyzes visual inputs and translates them into quantifiable values for clinicians. It supports both pre-operative and post-operative evaluations, enhancing precision at every stage of treatment.
The system also includes a mobile companion, KE-BOT Mobile. This digital app connects with ASMED’s central data server, allowing both clinicians and patients to access scalp mapping data and surgical metrics in real time.
Moving Toward Personalized Medicine
KE-BOT is part of a larger movement in healthcare: the shift toward personalized medicine. This approach uses individual data to guide diagnosis and treatment, rather than relying on generic models.
By delivering patient-specific imaging maps and clinical metrics within minutes, KE-BOT helps doctors make faster, more accurate decisions. This shortens the consultation process and improves overall care quality.
A Global Recognition of Turkey’s Healthtech Innovations
Turkey is already well known for its contributions to the hair restoration industry. Now, with the U.S. patent granted to KE-BOT, Turkey’s role in health technology is gaining international recognition.
“This is more than just innovation in robotics,” Dr. Erdoğan added. “It’s about building tools that raise the bar for global precision, transparency, and planning through validated data.”
KE-BOT’s success represents a fusion of robotics, AI, and medical expertise. It signals a new era for diagnostics in aesthetic and reconstructive medicine—one where data accuracy and speed are becoming the norm rather than the exception.
