Sofia Vergara is pro-plastic surgery — and the Modern Family star isn’t afraid to speak candidly about her past and future plastic surgery experiences.
“When I’m ready, I’ll do everything I can,” Vergara told Allure in a recent Allure cover story. “I wish I had more time off; I already did. But I can’t do one thing and then sit back for weeks because I’m on camera.”
As for what procedures Vergara has already had, she revealed that Botox is her product of choice. “I’ve had Botox around my neck and eyes for a long time,” she added. “I don’t believe in fillers. I think fillers are great when you’re young and you want to plump up your cheeks or your lips. But at 51, I feel like fillers don’t make you look younger, they make you look older.”
The actress opened up about her feelings about aging, saying people should have the power to do whatever makes them feel best. “I feel like you have to make the most of what’s around you,” she said. “I mean, if you care about aging. If you don’t, it’s fine. It’s not the end of the world. But if you do care, there’s so much more out there.”
Vergara has been talking about her latest Netflix series, Griselda, in which she plays the title character, Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug lord who rises to fame in Miami in the 1980s as the “godmother of cocaine.” She told The Hollywood Reporter that the role was so special to her that she modeled cigarettes and other substances for the role.
“I had only really done Modern Family, so I had no idea what I was getting into. Once I got there, I realized it was so different, and it was hard when you have to cry and fight and choke and do cocaine and drink,” she explained. “And I’ve never smoked in my life. Ever. I had to learn, and I learned to smoke when I was 50, and I had to smoke in every scene. OK. The first three weeks, I went home and didn’t know what was wrong with me.”
Don’t worry, though, Vergara didn’t actually do any of that; the magic of Hollywood made it all look intense and real. “The cocaine I was smoking was fake! It wasn’t real cocaine. It was fake cocaine, but I had to fake it,” she clarified on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January. “The cigarettes were fake. Everything was fake. It was fake.”
