At 71, Christie Brinkley is embracing the process of aging with grace and honesty. The former Sports Illustrated cover star says she is not afraid of getting older—and she does not want to erase every sign of time from her face.
No Interest in Hiding Every Wrinkle
In an interview with People magazine, Brinkley opened up about her approach to cosmetic treatments.
“I mainly use lasers,” she shared. “I’m not trying to get rid of every wrinkle.”
While she has experimented with fillers and visited cosmetic doctors, Brinkley says her goal has never been to look overly altered.
“I’ve tried fillers and I’ve been to the doctor in town,” she said. “I don’t want to look like I’ve had it done.”
A Skin Cancer Diagnosis Changed Her Perspective
A major turning point in Brinkley’s beauty journey came after she was diagnosed with skin cancer. That health scare reshaped her skincare routine and pushed her to prioritize wellness over appearance.
“I just had Fraxel,” Brinkley revealed, referring to a skin resurfacing treatment. “I had skin cancer, and Fraxel helps clear precancerous cells. Right now, it’s all about health for me.”
Early Detection Was Key
In March, Brinkley announced her skin cancer diagnosis to her followers. She revealed that doctors had removed a basal cell carcinoma from the side of her face.
“The good news for me is that we caught the basal cell carcinoma early,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “I met with amazing doctors who removed the cancer and stitched my wound up like a Dior couture dress.”
Defying Age and Industry Expectations
Brinkley has spent decades in the public eye, but she insists that age has never defined her. Reflecting on her early modeling days, she recalled the harsh reality of the fashion industry.
“I was literally told that by the time you turn 30, you’re going to be chewed up and spit out,” she said.
Instead of letting numbers limit her, she chose to redefine beauty on her own terms.
“I was at the top and felt better than ever in my life,” she said. “That’s when I decided to say goodbye to numbers because I wasn’t going to let them define me.”
Still Radiating Confidence
Brinkley continues to show confidence and optimism in her everyday life. She recently posted a photo of herself in a red bikini during a boat ride, showing off her signature smile and upbeat energy.
“Feeling optimistic and hope you are too!” she wrote in the caption. “Wishing everyone a bright and sunny future!”
