Meghan Trainor Hints At Plastic Surgery In New Lyrics

by Alice

Pop star Meghan Trainor stirred online debate over the weekend after making a lighthearted reference to her breast augmentation during her performance at the Wango Tango music festival in Huntington Beach, California.

Trainor, known for her openness about her body and her past plastic surgery procedures, surprised fans with both her performance and a lyric change that many say altered the message of one of her most iconic songs.

Wango Tango Surprise and Lyric Controversy

Trainor performed on Saturday, May 10, as part of the annual 102.7 KIIS FM Wango Tango festival, joining a star-studded lineup that included Doja Cat, Gwen Stefani, and David Guetta. Though her appearance wasn’t announced in advance, she took the stage with enthusiasm and energy, performing her hit song “All About That Bass.”

However, midway through the song, Trainor unexpectedly changed the original lyric “Yeah, obviously I’m not a size 2” to “Yeah, obviously I’ve grown breasts again.” The alteration didn’t go unnoticed and quickly led to strong backlash on social media.

Fans Express Disappointment

Many longtime fans expressed their disapproval online, arguing that the change contradicted the song’s original message about body positivity and embracing natural body shapes.

“She changed ‘I’m Not A Size 2’ to something crazy,” one social media user posted.
“Megan, you seriously need to stop singing this song,” another added.
“Why did she change the song that made her a hit?” asked a third. “Every weird girl loved this song when they were little and she ruined it.”

The criticism centered on the belief that the updated lyrics undermined the original message of self-acceptance, especially for young women who once felt empowered by the song.

Trainor Responds with Confidence

Despite the backlash, Trainor appears unfazed by the controversy. The Massachusetts-born singer has been candid in past interviews about her decision to get breast augmentation surgery, describing it as a form of self-love.

“It was a big decision, but it felt like I was doing something for myself. It was a gift to myself,” Trainor said in an interview with People magazine.
“I feel so feminine and I love it. It makes me so much more confident. It’s like the best decision I’ve ever made. I smile every time I take a shower.”

She also joked about her husband, actor Daryl Sabara, and his reaction to her decision.

“From the first meeting, I was like, ‘This is none of your business. These are my boobs,’” Trainor laughed.
“He’s like, ‘Whatever you want. For me, this is a treat. I’m super supportive.’ I’m like, ‘I guess you are, man.’”

A Celebration of Confidence — Or a Missed Message?

While Trainor’s intention may have been to show pride in her body and share a moment of humor, many fans feel that the choice clashed with what All About That Bass originally meant to them — an anthem for girls and women of all shapes and sizes.

Still, her supporters say self-confidence in any form should be celebrated, whether it comes from natural beauty or personal enhancements.
