Jamie Lee Curtis Regrets 20s Plastic Surgery?

by changzheng6

Los Angeles, May 13 (IANS) Renowned actress Jamie Lee Curtis has opened up about a pivotal and regretful decision from her past – undergoing cosmetic surgery in her 20s. The choice was spurred by a hurtful comment from a cinematographer during the filming of her 1985 movie ‘Perfect’. Decades later, the award – winning star shared the details of this experience, along with its far – reaching consequences, shedding light on her personal journey.

During an appearance on ’60 Minutes’, Curtis recounted the fateful moment that led to her plastic surgery. She recalled the cinematographer saying, “Yeah, I’m not shooting her today. Her eyes are baggy,” when she was just 25 years old. The comment was deeply embarrassing for Curtis, prompting her to opt for plastic surgery as soon as the film wrapped. However, the procedure did not go as planned. “Not well. That’s just not what you wanna do when you’re 25 or 26,” she said, adding that she regretted the decision immediately and has continued to do so over the years. Now an advocate for body positivity, Curtis urges women, “You’re gorgeous and you’re perfect the way you are,” making her own experience a cautionary tale.

The cosmetic surgery had unforeseen and severe ramifications for Curtis. It led her down a path of painkiller use, which eventually spiraled into addiction. “They give them [pain killers] to you. I became very enamored with the warm bath of an opiate,” she revealed. Despite keeping her struggle relatively private, without public outbursts, the dependency was real. While Curtis has been open about her battle with addiction, she also shared a surprising confession: she was more concerned about how endorsing Activia yoghurt would affect her career than revealing her drug abuse story. “I think I worried more that selling yogurt that makes you was gonna impact my career than for me to acknowledge that I had an addiction,” she quipped, highlighting the unexpected priorities in her professional life.

Curtis further explained that taking on such endorsement jobs was a practical decision. The financial rewards allowed her to spend more time at home with her children. “For the most part (those jobs)… they allowed me to stay home with my kids,” she said. Reflecting on her experience as a working mother, Curtis admitted the challenges, stating, “I am an imperfect, you know, working mom because no working moms are perfect … We make it look good. We think we’ve done it. But the truth is, we feel badly.” She also expressed remorse for the time spent away from her children while pursuing her creative endeavors, showing a vulnerable side of her life as both an actress and a mother.
