Pop singer and actress Ariana Grande showed off her sense of humor in her first red carpet appearance of 2025. She mocked speculation about her plastic surgery as she accepted the Rising Star Award for her role in Wicked: Part 1 at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Friday.
As Jennifer Coolidge presented her with the award, Grande quipped that her youthful looks were thanks to two good friends: “Botox and hyaluronic acid.”
“Thanks to Botox and hyaluronic acid, I thought I was a ‘slightly tired star'”
Grande thanked the audience and praised Coolidge as a “comedy genius who has influenced her life.” “I’ve been performing since I was a kid, so it’s really unexpected to hear the word ‘rising star’ at the age of 31. So first of all, I have to thank my two friends: Botox and hyaluronic acid,” she said, drawing laughter from the audience.
“I was expecting to hear ‘slightly wilted star’ or ‘droopy star’, so thank you so much.”
Red carpet look pays tribute to Wicked character
Grande appeared in a silver bubble dress inspired by her role as Glinda in Wicked. The metallic gown was made of silk with horizontal stripes. The fitted bodice echoed the fluffy skirt, which fell to the ankle.
She accessorized with silver pointed heels and a dazzling diamond necklace and earrings, making the overall look eye-catching and dreamy.
Ice makeup and Hepburn-style hair show classic style
Her makeup was cool and elegant, with silver eyeshadow, black cat-eye eyeliner, and dewy rose pink lipstick, showing her elegant temperament. Her strawberry blonde hair was tied into a sleek bun with slight bangs, paying tribute to Audrey Hepburn’s classic look.
Denied plastic surgery, stressed that “supports everyone’s choice”
Grande has publicly responded to rumors of plastic surgery. She said she has never had a nose job, breast augmentation, “fox eye lift” or facelift. She also admitted that she had injected Botox and fillers in various parts of her body, but stopped four years ago.
“I did inject fillers and Botox, but I stopped four years ago, that’s it.” She told her “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo in an interview with Vanity Fair in September.
She also stressed that she fully supports others’ choices to change their appearance. “I support everyone who chooses to make themselves feel beautiful, regardless of gender. Why should we judge it?”
