Sia’s plastic surgeon is talking about her sensational facelift, which was unveiled at the Daytime Beauty Awards last week.
“When Sia came on stage, everyone stood up from their seats, they were stunned,” Dr. Ben Talei told Fox News Digital.
“It was like, somehow, this was totally ‘another world’… They just loved her. Everybody loved her. She walked on stage and publicly announced, ‘Ben did my facelift,’ and then she started complimenting me and she was so, so happy about it.”
While presenting Talei with the Outstanding Medical Achievement Award, Sia said: “I’m a pop star who hides my face and never lies. Dr. Talei did an amazing facelift on me. He’s amazing. He’s done so much good – and not just for pop stars around the world.”
“I love when people talk about my work and they’re proud of it and you see how natural they look, so people aren’t afraid to do anything because you can’t tell there’s anything wrong with her. It’s impossible,” Talei said. “And I think it’s great for other people because it sets an example that you don’t need to lie. There’s nothing shameful about it. Nobody’s saying anything bad about her.”
The singer famously wore a wig to cover her face for much of her career, but Taree noted that he’s seen a change in how she carries herself.
“At first it seemed like she was just doing it for privacy,” he said. “She didn’t like the publicity. She loved singing, she loved people, but she just didn’t want to be in the spotlight. It was amazing. She would tell me… ‘I’m driving around and it’s amazing. No one knows who I am. I can go on about my life and at the same time, I can be this super-hot pop star and no one knows me.'”
“I think she’s been kind of shying away from the public eye lately because of some image issues, but now she’s everywhere. You know, that was the first time she really went out in public and jumped on stage and showed everyone who she was.” I’ve had so many clients and friends say, ‘I never knew what she looked like, she’s so beautiful.’ … They all say the same thing: ‘It’s amazing that you’re a world-famous star and nobody knows what you look like.’”
“I’ve been dieting like crazy for the last 10 years,” she told the publication, “trying to fit into the stereotype of ‘hot pop star.’ I’ve had people say, ‘You don’t have to be a model. You’re actually an artist. … It really doesn’t matter what you look like.’”
Talley said that when Sia came into his office last year, she wanted to be open about her decision when they first met. She had, in his words, “some slight signs of aging in her neck,” so he suggested the AuraLyft procedure.

“Throughout this whole process, she kept saying, ‘If anyone asks me about this, I’m not going to lie. I hate it when people lie about their behavior. I feel like it’s unfair to kids and readers about their body image if they think we didn’t do anything. We were born perfect. So if anyone asks me, I want them to know that I struggle with this, too. This is something that bothers me, too. You know, we’re all the same.’ So she said that from the beginning – exactly those words,” Talay said.
Sia, who will turn 48 in December, issued a similar statement to Fox News Digital through Talei, saying, “Please share this message, I don’t want to lie about plastic surgery and I don’t want to make women in the world feel more insecure, it’s not typical to look like me at 48, and that’s why I feel the need to be honest about my plastic surgery because I don’t want to bring down the self-esteem of women my age who think they should look like me.”
Talei found Sia’s honesty refreshing because it transcended gossip and speculation.
“The conversation shifted for a moment to the fact that yes, Sia did have plastic surgery, but it doesn’t detract from her talent in any way,” he said.
“If you do something bad and you hide it, then people are going to whisper, ‘Oh my god, did you see what Madonna did? Oh my god, did you see what so and so did?’ And then it becomes a negative story,” he continued. “But if you do something natural and talk about it, the subject changes.”
On stage, Sia called Talei a “good friend” and said she “can’t say enough good things about him.”
In his acceptance speech, he expressed his gratitude for her, saying, “As you can see, she’s really just a ray of sunshine and makes my nieces and nephews have a great time. She had them over to her house for a big party and the whole family loved her. I’m so grateful to her.”
Talei further recalled their friendship and how she was so passionate about sharing her cosmetic results with her friends.
“We were at her house and she was having an event for the kids at her house. Every time I walked by, she would grab me and say, ‘That’s Ben, he did my face.’ … and then she would show it to everyone,” he said. “She was so proud of it. She was such a loving, giving person. She wanted me to look beautiful … so, she was always giving things away.”
