In an emotional update shared on Instagram, Bravo star Gerber, known for her roles on Below Deck Seasons 6 and 7, candidly spoke about her long battle with breast implant complications. On Monday, August 22, Gerber posted a video expressing her relief as she prepared for surgery to remove her ruptured breast implants. She shared, “I’m just over the moon,” revealing how she had been suffering from inflammation, sharp pains, and bloating for years, all of which were linked to her breast implants. After nearly 12 years of dealing with health issues, she decided it was time to undergo surgery to get rid of the implants that had been causing her persistent discomfort.
The Surgery and Aftermath
Gerber first had breast implant surgery nearly 12 years ago, but recently, her implants began causing significant health problems. In a post-surgery update shared on August 23, she disclosed that one of her implants had ruptured and leaked into her right breast capsule, which she believes had been contributing to her constant discomfort. “The other implant completely ruptured and leaked into my right breast capsule, which is probably why I’m feeling so bad,” Gerber explained, adding that the implant had leaked toxic substances such as arsenic into her body.
She further explained that the implant was full of bacteria and had a rough capillary wrap around it, which caused frequent inflammation and severe pain. Gerber believes that the implant ruptured over a year ago, and the toxins slowly seeped into her body, creating a slow, worsening deterioration in her health. Fortunately, the scar tissue surrounding the ruptured implant helped prevent the toxins from spreading rapidly, likely protecting her from further harm.
Recovery and Ongoing Health Journey
As Gerber continues her recovery, she has kept her fans informed about her progress. She has experienced swelling, bloating, back pain, and constipation due to the anesthesia and nerve blocks. Despite these challenges, she remains positive and is focusing on healing. To aid her recovery, she is taking Maderasone, Arnica, and fish oil to help with scar healing and overall recovery. She shared a photo of her breasts in her Instagram Story, stating, “I’m so glad the ruptured silicone implant came out. I didn’t know it was ruptured, but I realize that’s likely why I was feeling all the (severe pain).”
Gerber has been open about her health struggles over the years, particularly her concerns about the long-term impact of breast implants. In a previous interview, she shared, “I’ve been feeling a lot more lethargic and I’ve had a lot more inflammation over the last few years. I’m bloated all the time, no matter what I eat.” She believes that her breast implants, which have now passed their expiration date, may have contributed to her ongoing health issues, including constant bloating and fatigue.
Moving Forward
As she recovers, Gerber is hopeful that removing the implants will improve her health and well-being. This surgery represents an important step in her journey towards better health, and she’s grateful for the support she’s received from medical professionals and loved ones. Her honesty about her experiences has resonated with many fans, as she continues to share her recovery process and the changes she’s going through.
