Amy Lou Wood’s Reasons For Opposing Botox Have To Do With Her Job

by Alice

Aimee Lou Wood has no plans to undergo plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons anytime soon.

The 31-year-old White Lotus star has always been outspoken when it comes to her natural beauty. So it was no surprise that she opened up about plastic surgery during an appearance on the Vogue podcast Run-Through.

During the episode, released on April 3, the British actress recalled conversations with women who had Botox and said it was obvious that Wood didn’t have it because of her “expressive” features.

“I’m very anti-Botox. Others can do it as they please, but I can’t do it because, you know, my career is very much based on facial expressions… so I can’t have my face frozen. It needs to move,” Wood said.

However, she admitted that sometimes her facial expressions move “too much”, adding, “Sometimes I look back at things and I’m like oh my god, I didn’t realize my facial expressions moved that much at the time.”

Wood recalled one time when she tried to act cool, calm and collected, but just couldn’t control her reaction.

“A lot of people do this kind of role where they move really stiffly and slur everything they say and look sexy and cool,” she explained. “I feel like I could never play that kind of deadpan role because I can’t do it. Even if I thought I could, I couldn’t do it.”

In recent months, Wood’s appearance, especially her teeth, has been as much of a focus as her acting skills.

On The Jonathan Ross Show, the Sex Education star said fans’ “fascination” with her natural gap between teeth was a “real full circle moment” after they were “bullied forever”. She also spoke about defying industry beauty standards to get dental veneers, calling the move “rebellious”.

“These people live in Hollywood,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2025. “I live in a little apartment in southeast London, and I’m so British, and I don’t know how to relate to so many people who are so positive and confident.”

While the discussion about her teeth has been mostly positive, it’s also common, and Wood is ready to let it go. “It’s cool, and now I don’t want to fucking talk about it anymore,” she said in an interview with The New York Times published on April 5. “Can I talk about my character? Why would I talk about my teeth? Now I’m just a pair of front teeth.”
