Police Case and Medical Board Review
Thumbah police have registered a case against Dr. Shenal Shashankan, the surgeon who performed the operation. An initial review by the district medical board found no major procedural errors. However, the ethics committee—including the district medical officer—rejected that report as unclear. It has called for a more thorough investigation into the surgery.
Clinic’s License Called into Question
Earlier police inquiries uncovered that the clinic did not hold a valid medical license at the time of Neethu’s surgery. Authorities are now examining whether the facility met basic safety and staffing requirements.
