Abu Dhabi, 21 April 2025 (WAM) – The Burjeel Cancer Institute (BCI)—one of the UAE’s largest cancer care networks—has inaugurated the Burjeel Breast Centre, the first facility in the country to offer fully integrated care for both benign and malignant breast conditions.
The new centre, housed within Burjeel Medical City, was unveiled at a ceremony attended by senior officials from the Abu Dhabi Centre for Public Health, Department of Health Abu Dhabi, and Burjeel Holding.
Same-Day Appointments and On-Site Diagnostics
Designed as a true one-stop breast health service, the centre brings together screening, diagnosis, and treatment in a single location. Patients can book same-day appointments, and tissue samples are analysed on-site to speed up decision-making. Experts note that catching breast issues early can push cure rates above 95%.
Female-Led Team for Enhanced Patient Comfort
In a first for the region, the facility’s core medical team is entirely female. Leading the group is Dr. Nehad Abdul Razzaq Kazim Albastaki, a world-renowned consultant in breast imaging and interventional radiology. A female-led staff helps ensure patient privacy and comfort. The centre also offers a dedicated surgical team for breast reconstruction when needed.
Advanced Technology to Reduce Misdiagnosis
The centre uses cutting-edge equipment such as the HOLOGIC 3Dimensions™ Mammography System and an AI-assisted radiology platform. These tools enhance the accuracy of mammograms, ultrasounds, and MRIs. By combining expert review with AI insights, doctors can catch subtle signs of disease and minimize diagnostic errors.
