Chrishell Stause Discovers Ruptured Breast Implants: Her Journey?

by changzheng6

Year after year, breast augmentation remains one of the most sought – after plastic surgery procedures. However, as reality TV star Chrishell Stause recently revealed, it is far from a one – and – done deal, with maintenance being a crucial aspect.

In an Instagram video co – created with her breast surgeon, Dr. Josef Hadeed of Beverly Hills, California, Stause disclosed that a full – body scan had uncovered that her 15 – year – old breast implants had ruptured. “It’s such a mental block when you learn that you have ruptured breast implants. It’s odd,” she shared about her initial reaction. She expressed concern over the potential long – term harm to her body and was particularly shaken by the fact that she had no prior suspicion of the rupture. “I think that’s the scary part—it was a surprise to me,” she said, noting that she hadn’t experienced any obvious symptoms, though in hindsight, she wondered if there had been subtle signs.

Stause’s situation is not unique. Board – certified plastic surgeon Dr. Lyle Leipziger of Great Neck, New York, explained that the signs of a ruptured breast implant can be quite subtle. A patient might notice uneven breasts, with changes in shape and size, but these alterations could easily go unnoticed without close observation, especially in the case of silicone implant ruptures. Saline implant ruptures, on the other hand, are typically more noticeable as the breast size decreases due to the leakage of saline. If a silicone rupture is not addressed promptly, the silicone gel can integrate into the surrounding capsule, leading to scar tissue and the painful condition of capsular contracture, which may require partial or complete removal of the implant capsule.

Dr. Leipziger further elaborated that breast implants often rupture due to “fold failure,” where the implant shell simply wears out over time, usually after many years. He emphasizes to his patients before surgery that, like other medical devices such as pacemakers or knee replacements, breast implants have a limited lifespan and need to be replaced. He recommends annual check – ups for his breast augmentation patients, stating, “There is usually no such thing as a permanent medical device.” In her video, Stause credited Dr. Hadeed for replacing her ruptured implants after her previous surgeon retired and urged her followers, especially those with older breast implants, to get them checked. Her experience serves as a wake – up call for anyone who has undergone breast augmentation, highlighting the importance of regular monitoring and maintenance to ensure the health and well – being of patients with breast implants.
