The 49-year-old actress, widely recognized for her portrayal of Eve Panesar-Unwin in the popular BBC drama EastEnders, revealed her health struggle with her fans on social media on May 12, 2025.
In an emotional Instagram video, Heather spoke candidly about the impact of the diagnosis and her ongoing battle with the disease. She described her journey with chemotherapy and surgery, noting that the experience had changed her life forever. Alongside the video, Heather shared the news that she had completed her chemotherapy earlier that day. Describing her emotions, she compared finishing chemotherapy to crossing the finish line of the London Marathon. “Waking up this morning, it felt like the end of the London Marathon; I turned into the boulevard and could see the giant clock and the finish line. Bottom line – I just got my medal,” she said.
However, Heather acknowledged that the journey had not been easy. She emphasized that the experience had changed her life in ways she never expected. “My world has narrowed during this time. I have spent the most precious time with my wife Ellie and our three daughters, Anne, Jess, and Lola. I just try to cherish every moment with them. I am still at peace,” Heather shared.
