Cardi B shared that she had another surgery to remove biopolymers from her butt. E! News reports that the rapper and mother went live on Instagram yesterday to open up about the surgery she underwent earlier this year. Cardi (real name Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar) also had a similar removal in 2022.
“I went in after I finished filming Like What in January,” Cardi said. “I had some more butt injections removed because you know it takes several rounds to remove butt injections, and I also had some repairs done for fibrosis.”
According to multiple sources, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), biopolymers like the one Cardi used can have dangerous side effects, including fibrosis. Cardi also mentioned that the surgery and necessary blood work did not show that she was pregnant, despite having two tests. Although she was worried that the surgery would affect the pregnancy, her baby was born “very smoothly.”
In another livestream in 2022, Cardi revealed that she had the injections in 2014 — and that they were done in someone’s basement, not in a medical setting. She also revealed that she’s had breast implants, nose jobs, and liposuction in the past.
“I just want to say that if you’re young, like 19, 20, 21, sometimes you’re so skinny,” she said, “and you’re like, ‘Oh my god, I don’t have that much fat in my butt,’ so you just take butt pictures. Bitch, don’t f**king do that!”
In an interview with E!, Cardi said that being open about what she’s done is her way of being honest with her fans and preventing rumors from spreading.
“That’s a big deal for me because I don’t like to lie,” she said in 2019. “Like, when you see someone get liposuction, you think they just go to the doctor and it’s fine, and they come out looking great, but it’s actually a very long recovery process. It’s actually a little over three or four months.”
