On May 22, a 30-year-old woman identified as Ms. Ma was ambushed in the parking lot of the MixC mall in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province. As she climbed into her car, a stranger forced his way into the front seat and held her at knifepoint.
Kidnapping and Forced Drive
The attacker demanded that Ms. Ma pay for parking. He then forced her to drive out of the mall and took her toward Tongxiang County. When he discovered her bank balance was low, he threatened her again and ordered her to borrow money from friends.
Secret SOS Message
During a brief distraction, Ms. Ma sent a text message to her boyfriend. He used the phone’s location feature to track her and alerted the police.
Fatal Confrontation with Police
Police from the Tongxiang Chongfu Station arrived and confronted the assailant. He suddenly stabbed Ms. Ma 22 times in the chest. He then stabbed himself and later died despite medical efforts.
Implants Block Fatal Wounds
Doctors treating Ms. Ma found more than 20 stab wounds across her torso. Remarkably, her breast implants absorbed most of the blows. Only one wound penetrated her lung, which doctors say was life-threatening without the implants’ protection.
Victim’s Frustration and Discharge
Ms. Ma has since been released from hospital care. She expressed frustration that authorities closed the case after the attacker’s death. She said the lack of resolution leaves her feeling helpless.
“I’ve been to MixC many times and always felt safe,” Ms. Ma told Lychee News. “Now I feel unlucky that I met this man. He’s dead and the case is closed. Many things can’t be undone.”
Public Outcry and Safety Concerns
News of the attack has sparked outrage online. Commenters praised the “life-saving” role of the breast implants. Others called for tighter security at public venues so people can feel safe again.
