A 33-year-old Dutch woman reshaped her hairline through hair transplantation surgery. Ten months later, she shared her transformation story and now uses her own experience to help more women embark on the same journey of beauty.
Get rid of the trouble of “high forehead”, 6-hour surgery to reshape the hairline
Sonja van der Berg, who had long been troubled by a “wide forehead”, eventually underwent a 6-hour hair transplant surgery in her hometown of Rotterdam, which cost 3,000 euros (about 2,641 pounds). This operation, performed under local anesthesia, extracted healthy hair follicles from the back of her head and transplanted them to the hairline area on her forehead. “The operation was very easy and I even fell asleep,” Sonia recalled. “There was only a slight discomfort after the operation, which was much easier than expected.”
After the operation, I regained my confidence and bid farewell to the days of “hiding my forehead”
The postoperative effect completely changed her life. Most people may not notice the changes, but I can feel the improvement of my confidence every day. She admitted that in the past, she always had to cover her forehead with her hairstyle, but now she can finally manage her hair as she wishes. This transformation has inspired Sonia’s new business – since January this year, she has led clients to Istanbul, one of the world’s hair transplant centers, to provide preoperative consultation, psychological support and postoperative care services for women.
Break the prejudice against female hair transplantation and start a business to help more people
I want to break the taboos of hair transplantation for women. Sonia said, “In the past, people always thought this was exclusive to men. In fact, many women are also troubled by hairlines and high foreheads.” She initially considered reducing her forehead through surgery, but eventually found that hair transplantation could achieve a similar effect while avoiding the risks of surgery. The doctor confirmed that the hair follicles at the back of her head were sufficient and could achieve a natural effect, which enabled her to quickly decide on the surgery.
Sharing experiences gains resonance and promotes the de-stigmatization of the industry
The postoperative recovery went smoothly: There was a slight swelling a few days ago. She covered the wound with a headscarf and returned to work a week later. To promote the growth of hair follicles, she follows the doctor’s advice and combs her hair vigorously every day. Many people dare not touch new hair. In fact, massage and combing can promote blood circulation. She explained.
Sonia’s candor has resonated widely. She shared her recovery journey on social media and received thank-you messages from women in various European countries: “Some people said they had felt ashamed of their hairlines.” I want them to know that it is not shameful to talk about this issue and not shameful to seek change either.
So far, she has accompanied two women to Istanbul for surgeries and provided consultations for more than ten people. More trips will be arranged within the year. This is not about pursuing the perfection of Internet celebrities, but about making oneself comfortable. She said, “Everyone has areas where they lack confidence. If we can support each other and overcome obstacles, it is something to be proud of.”
