Ricki Lake, 56, has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. After losing more than 30 pounds through diet and exercise, the Hairspray actress announced on Watch What Happens Live that she also had a face and neck lift.
During her appearance with host Andy Cohen, Lake explained that she began losing her hair six years ago. She shaved her head, let her hair grow back naturally, and stopped dyeing it. When Cohen praised her youthful appearance, Lake raised her hands under her chin and said, “I did a lower face and neck lift.”
She added, “Thank you, I feel like this is the best plastic surgery I’ve ever had. And my doctor, I have to give him a shout out—he’s a genius.” Lake gave credit to Dr. Allen Foulad for his expertise and noted how happy she felt after the procedure. “I’m so glad I can talk about it. I’ve always been so open about it. I don’t want any stigma,” she said.
Weight Loss Journey and Rejection of Ozempic
Lake and her husband, Ross Burningham, began their weight loss journey in fall 2023. The couple adopted intermittent fasting, tried a ketogenic diet, and added Pilates to their exercise routine. Together, they shed significant weight—Lake lost over 30 pounds, and Burningham lost more than 40 pounds.
In May 2024, Lake told Good Morning America that she refused her doctor’s advice to use Ozempic. “He said you can’t succeed without it,” she recalled. “That made me angry. I like challenges and I wanted to prove him wrong.” She called that decision “the best moment in my life.”

By sharing her plastic surgery story, Lake hopes to remove stigma around cosmetic procedures. “I’ve lost a lot of weight, and I’ve always had a problem with it, and now I’ve solved it,” she said. Her candid approach encourages honest discussions about the choices people make to feel their best.
