June 11, 2025 — Teen Mom 2 alum Kailyn Lowry, 32, is opening up about her recent breast reduction surgery, sharing candid updates with fans and shedding light on the emotional and physical challenges of her journey.
Earlier this week, Lowry posted a selfie to her Instagram Story, smiling while wearing a support bra, and noted she was “4 days post-op.” She also asked followers if they wanted to see a video about the procedure, with a poll offering “yes” or “not really.”
This post came after she gave fans a sneak peek of her immediate post-surgery appearance, promising: “There’s going to be a lot of videos coming out after surgery.”
A Struggle for Approval
Lowry has been open about the difficulty of getting her surgery approved. On a May 17 episode of the Almost Famous podcast, she described her experience consulting with multiple doctors for breast augmentation—only to be told she needed to lose 40 to 50 pounds before moving forward.
“I was crying during the call,” she said, after seeking a breast reduction, augmentation, or lift. “I didn’t even know if my double chin could be removed.”
Body Transformation and Dedication
Lowry’s motivation stemmed from long-standing body image concerns, especially following the birth of twins Verse and Valley earlier this year. She considered Ozempic injections but instead committed to working out five days a week.
“If you’re going to have plastic surgery, you have to keep it up,” she said, emphasizing that she maintains a regular fitness regimen. Lowry has previously undergone a Brazilian butt lift in 2016 and has had surgeries on her abdomen and breasts.
Growing Trend in Breast Reduction
According to the 2023 ASPS Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, breast reduction surgery is on the rise—up 7% from the previous year. Experts from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) attribute this increase to both functional and aesthetic motivations.
“Today’s patients are seeking not only relief for physical complaints but also aesthetic results,” said Dr. Ashley Howarth. “Breast reduction is now one of the most common surgical procedures performed in my practice.”
Physical and Emotional Impact
For Lowry, the surgery marked more than a cosmetic change—it was a personal and emotional milestone.
“This whole process was very emotional,” she shared, reflecting on years of frustration, doctor visits, and body changes.
