Police in Kanpur are searching for Dr. Anushka Tiwari and her husband, Dr. Saurabh Tripathi. Both are dentists. They face charges after two engineers died following hair transplant procedures at their clinic. Authorities registered a case of alleged manslaughter against Dr. Tiwari. The couple has been missing since then.
Victims and Timeline
The first victim, Vineet Dubey, was an assistant engineer at Panki Power Plant. He died at Regency Hospital on March 15, 2025, within 48 to 72 hours of his transplant. The second victim, software engineer Mayank Katiyar, died on November 19, 2024, at a private hospital in Farrukhabad. Both had undergone hair transplant surgery at Dr. Tiwari’s private skin and hair clinic in Kanpur.
Investigation Details
Assistant Commissioner of Police Abhishek Pandey leads the probe. He confirmed that three teams are conducting raids to arrest Dr. Tiwari. New evidence shows that Dr. Tripathi also performed surgeries alongside untrained staff. Police may add charges against him once the investigation concludes.
Forensic and Expert Opinions
Police have asked legal and medical experts to review the surgeries’ legality and ethics. Their findings will go into the final charge sheet. Authorities conducted an autopsy on Dubey on March 16 and preserved his internal organs for further tests. The Chief Medical Officer, Hari Negi, said the examination is underway and a report is expected soon.
Family Accusations
Dubey’s wife, Jaya, filed a complaint labeling her husband’s death “unnatural.” She claims police delayed registering the FIR by 56 days. She also alleges the delay lets Dr. Tiwari evade arrest and seek legal protection. Jaya states she submitted recordings proving Dr. Tiwari performed the transplant.
Evidence Collection
Police have obtained the academic certificates and recommendation letters of both Dr. Tiwari and Dr. Tripathi from institutions in Faridabad and Kanpur. Investigators continue to collect documents and statements to build their case.
